It is widely collected as food in Asia.Brackish to almost fresh water areas of mangrove swamps. Diurnal rhythm of activity and inactivity strongly depending on the tides and rainfall. Can survive during drought periods by aerial respiration at the posterior mantle margins.Members of this class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites.
