Description

Tibia Fusus/Shinbone Tibia

A slender shell with a narrow, elongate, high spire and long, straight, needlelike tibia. Early whorls ornamented with vertical ribs and fine spiral ridges. Base of body whorl is spirally grooved while other whorls are smooth. All whorls are distinctly convex, with an impressed suture. The columellar callus, which has a small blunt tooth at its upper end, joins the long siphonal canal, almost equal in length to the rest of the shell. The moderatly thickened outer lip froms a canal where it meets the columellar callus; a series of five blunt projections or teeth increase in length from top to bottom. Pale brown in color, lighter at suture; outer lip and columella creamy white or white. Horny operculum oval, slightly arched, with apical nucleus.
