Tonna Galea/Giant Mediterranean Tun Shells
Tonna galea, commonly known as the giant tun, and also known as tonna olearium is in the family Tonnidae known as the tun shells. This very large sea snail or tun snail has rows of flat ridges on the surface of its shell. It is found in the North Atlantic Ocean as far as the coast of West Africa, in the Mediterranean Sea and the Caribbean Sea. Tonna galea seashells are very lightweight brown colored shells with a very wide mouth opening, perfect for creating floral arrangements or for use in seashell decor.
